International guidelines for the treatment of anxiety disorders recommends a combination of antidepressants and psychotherapeutic methods, such as cognitive behavioral therapy.
According to a study by the University of Illinois, over 200 commonly used drugs have depression as a possible side effect. The researchers’ aim was to find out how often these side effects actually occur. They also investigated how much the risk of depression increases if not just one, but several of these drugs are taken. To this end, they analyzed the data of around 26,000 patients over a period of ten years. It was clearly demonstrated that the more “suspicious” drugs were taken at the same time, the more frequently depression occurred.
